The season ends in a spectacular way, the last two weekends of October the whole team comes together to run the steam engine and threshing machine. Whole stalks of wheat are fed in through the top and separated in to chaff, grain and straw. The straw is then baled up with the steam powered bailer. Join a drop-in tile decorating workshop between 10am and 2.30pm and try the tube lining technique to produce your own ceramic masterpiece; you could make a collection of coasters, a circular door plaque or a gift for a loved one on a heart shaped tile. Activities vary from day-to-day; tiles cost from £5 each and can be fired and sent home later for a small extra charge to cover postage and packing. It takes up to 1½ hours to decorate your tile so last admission to the workshops is 2pm.

Like all good birthday bashes we have an accoutrement to the evening, actor David Bark-Jones and wine industry character Charlie Womersley will entertain us all with a wine ‘Call my Bluff’, with your host James Tanner roped into the panel of expert bluffers it’s a night of good food, eclectic wines and good humour.
