The Shropshire Way 80k

Walk the Shropshire Way and raise money for the Discovery Centre Starting at 9am, this mass participation fundraising walk for the Discovery Centre must be completed within 24 hours. The route is 80km (50 miles) and will be taking in some of the finest parts of the Shropshire Hills AONB. You will be taken through the very best of Shropshire’s undiscovered landscape and some of its hidden market towns where you will be able to sample some of the wonderful local produce that this area has to offer as you pass through our checkpoints. Starting and finishing here at the Centre, you will be treated to breakfast as you complete. Call 01588 676060 to book, cost £40. Saturdays at Hencote

We invite guests to come join us to enjoy guided vineyard tours, drinks on the veranda overlooking spectacular views of Shrewsbury and live entertainment from local artists.We also encourage guests to bring their kids to meet our farm animals. In our new petting zoo they will get to meet our miniature donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. On the day we will be offering: •Live music from local artists •a BBQ Lunch prepared from locally-sourced produce •A Licensed bar serving English wine and local beers •Two guided group vineyard tours with a wine tasting of 5 English wines (limited places)

Bluebell Walk with Keith Pybus

Join TV's Keith Pybus for the popular Bluebell Walk for just £5 per person! With one of the best places to see bluebells in Shropshire being right on our doorstep, what better way to see them than joining our Bluebell Walk? The walk will start at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre at 10.30am and will take approximately two hours. It will be 3.5 miles of easy walking along mostly field paths and quiet lanes, including a few gentle ascents. Then why not relax in the café on your return?

Shrewsbury Regatta

The Regatta is one of the oldest events in the rowing calendar, having first been held in 1871. Races will take place on the River Severn in Shrewsbury between English Bridge and the boathouses opposite the Quarry. The organisers expect around 1500 competitors to take part from rowing clubs all over the country.There will be races for 8's, 4's and pairs as well as quad, double and single sculling boats. Competitors will include men, women, juniors and veterans. Entry to the regatta for spectators will be free of charge and the public will be able to watch the racing from the river banks on both sides of the river. There will be a bar and barbecue as well as other refreshments for all the family. On Saturday 12 May the Regatta organisers will be delighted to welcome a visit from Di Carrington from Pontesbury and Sharon Magrath from Bayston Hill in Shrewsbury. Di and Sharon are two of the three women who in February became the fastest female crew ever to row the Atlantic. 62 year old Di also became the oldest woman ever to make the crossing.
